Our Approach
to Whole Child wellness
At Whole Child Mind-Body Wellness, we recognize that children are thinking, feeling, moving, relational, and spiritual beings—and families are living systems that hold and shape these experiences.
When one area of a child’s life becomes disrupted, it affects every other area, often touching the whole family. Therapy with us is an opportunity to gently bring attention and understanding to these patterns in a way that feels supportive, safe, and hopeful.
We approach every child and family from a person‑centered, integrative mental health perspective, grounded in the belief that each child is naturally healthy and whole. We know that families, too, hold strengths and resources that can nurture growth, resilience, and meaningful change.
How We Work Together With Families
Through collaboration, we explore the everyday experiences that shape a child’s well‑being—relationships with caregivers, peers, and siblings; movement and play; patterns of thoughts and feelings; eating and sleeping rhythms; and the ways stress or life events show up in the mind and body. Together, we co‑create approaches that support both the child and family, building on what is already working and finding new ways to live in alignment with your family’s values for health and connection.
Our Commitment to Families
At Whole Child Mind-Body Wellness, we don’t just focus on challenges—we focus on the whole child within the context of the whole family. Our work aims to strengthen relationships, nurture resilience, and empower children and their caregivers to thrive together.
School‑Based Approaches and Educational Advocacy
At Whole Child Mind‑Body Wellness, we know that school is one of the most significant environments in a child’s life. Academic demands, social dynamics, and learning differences can deeply influence a child’s emotional health and overall development. For this reason, our work often extends beyond the therapy room into meaningful collaboration with schools and educational teams.
Partnering With Schools and Families
We believe that children thrive when caregivers and educators work together. Our clinicians partner with families and school staff to ensure that a child’s needs are understood and supported. This might include:
-
Participating in team meetings with teachers, school psychologists, and administrators
-
Offering guidance on classroom accommodations or behavioral supports
-
Helping families navigate communication with school staff when challenges arise
504 Plans and IEP Support
Understanding and advocating for your child’s educational rights can feel overwhelming. We provide support and guidance throughout the process of obtaining and implementing Section 504 Plans and Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
-
Evaluation and Documentation: We offer thorough assessments and evaluations that can support requests for accommodations or special education services.
-
Preparation and Coaching: We help caregivers prepare for meetings, understand procedural safeguards, and articulate their child’s strengths and needs.
-
In‑Meeting Support: When appropriate, we can attend school meetings as part of your advocacy team to help ensure your child’s plan is tailored to their unique needs.
-
Ongoing Monitoring: We assist families in reviewing plans over time and updating goals, accommodations, or services as your child grows and develops.
Advocacy and School‑Related Evaluations
Our school‑focused services go beyond paperwork—we help you see the big picture and strategize actionable steps to support your child’s success.
-
Comprehensive School‑Related Assessments: We evaluate academic, emotional, social, and behavioral factors that impact school functioning.
-
Advocacy for Accommodations: We help families understand their rights under IDEA (Individuals with Disabilities Education Act) and Section 504, and we collaborate to ensure accommodations are meaningful and appropriate.
-
Intervention Planning: Together, we identify interventions that work both at home and in school, creating consistency for your child across environments.
Why This Matters
When a child feels understood, supported, and safe at school, it creates ripple effects across every area of life—emotional regulation, confidence, relationships, and overall wellness. At Whole Child Mind‑Body Wellness, we are committed to walking alongside you and your child in these school‑based processes, helping bridge the gap between home, school, and community so your child can thrive.
